Dr Kate Lemerle

Senior Psychologist

Dr Kate Lemerle is a registered psychologist with extensive experience in general mental
health, clinical neuropsychotherapy, health promotion, and community development across
metropolitan, rural, and remote settings. She holds a PhD from Queensland University of
Technology focused on workplace wellbeing and the impact of school environments on
teacher health, and postdoctoral research on school-based programs that strengthen resilience
in children from multicultural backgrounds. In addition, she holds postgraduate qualifications
in social ecology and health promotion. Kate is a member of the Australian Association of
Psychologists Inc (AAPi) and the Trauma Recovery Network of Australia.
Over her 45+ year career, Kate has combined research, program design, and evaluation to
advance evidence-based approaches to resilience, trauma recovery, and mental fitness across
the lifespan. She applies this learning in practical ways to her clinical work which has always
been an integral part of her career.
Kate delivers telehealth psychological services Australia-wide, specializing in
trauma-informed therapy that combines Positive Psychology and neuroscience with other
therapeutic approaches including motivational interviewing, schema therapy, and growthfocused techniques. She has a strong track record in supporting people in high-stress or
disadvantaged environments, particularly those from regional and remote communities. Her
work with Australian Defence Force personnel, multicultural communities, and clients in
places such as Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands reflects a long-standing
commitment to accessible, context-sensitive care.
Kate is also an experienced educator and supervisor, having lectured in psychology at various
universities and supervised numerous provisional psychologists to full registration. For the
past decade she has been mentoring other registered psychologists who also work from solo
private practices. She has published peer-reviewed research and book chapters on resilience
and health-promoting schools, and regularly engages in advanced professional development
in trauma, neuroscience, and mindfulness-based therapies. Across all roles, her focus is on
translating contemporary science into practical strategies that help individuals, organisations,
and communities to thrive.
Kate has lived on Norfolk Island since 2016 and enjoys the gentle pace of life in a very
remote community, whilst also connecting with clients and colleagues on the mainland. She
is actively involved in a number of community groups including the Business Council of
Norfolk Island. She is passionate about living a sustainable lifestyle and in her spare time is
transforming her urban block into a food forest using natural gardening techniques, and loves
cooking creatively for relaxation.
