Brittany Aitken
In her final year of study, Brittany is joining Pause as a provisional psychologist. She has a
Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and is currently undertaking a Masters of
Professional Psychology. As a practitioner, she is warm, compassionate and not without a gentle
sense of humour. With four years of experience answering crisis calls to Lifeline, Brittany is no
stranger to supporting people experiencing some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
It is here during this time that she began developing her approach in trauma-informed practice.
She deeply values trust and has a profound respect for lived experience, understanding the
importance of practicing in the context of wider inequity.
Brittany is trained in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and, as an accredited Lifeline crisis
supporter, is experienced in risk assessment. She is committed to an evidence-based approach
and looks forward to adding more therapeutic modalities to her clinical toolkit.
With a strong creative streak, Brittany enjoys reading, writing, and Dungeons and Dragons. She
also enjoys being active and the outdoors, loving a good walk among the trees and playing sports
like basketball and dancing. As a fun fact about Brittany, she once worked as a dinosaur at a
theme park.
