Bridget Galvin
Bridget is a Provisional Psychologist registered with AHPRA, and is currently completing her Master of Clinical Psychology through Charles Sturt University. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) / Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management), and a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology.
Born and raised in Tamworth, Bridget has spent most of her career working in the region. She began her professional life as a legal assistant, working primarily with a personal injury lawyer in motor vehicle accidents and workers compensation claims, whilst completing her undergraduate studies by distance. In her final year of university, she transitioned into the child protection sector, gaining over five years of casework experience supporting children, young people, and families.
Bridget spent 18 months living in England, where she worked for the NHS in outpatient adult mental health. In this role, she delivered IPS Employment Support within a multidisciplinary team, further developing her casework skills and gaining experience working with community, clinic, and inpatient settings. Since returning to Australia in 2023, Bridget has resumed her work in child protection, delivering Family Preservation services focused on building insight, connection, and safety within families.
Bridget is committed to trauma-informed practice and has worked extensively with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, including abuse and neglect. She has experience supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including clients who are part of the LGBTQ+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and CALD communities, in addition to neurodivergent individuals and people with a disability.
Bridget is an accredited facilitator of Circle of Security Parenting, Black Box Parenting, and the Shark Cage program, and draws from evidence-based frameworks including cognitive behavioural therapies, emotion coaching, and attachment theory. Bridget is especially passionate about child and family work, collaborative goal setting, and affirming clients’ lived experiences.
Bridget is proud to be back in her hometown of Tamworth and is deeply committed to improving access to high-quality psychological care in regional areas. She brings a strong understanding of the strengths and unique challenges of rural communities, and is focused on fostering collaborative relationships with local services to support holistic, wraparound care.
Bridget is passionate about continuous learning and is excited to further develop her clinical skills under supervision. She is thrilled to join the Pause Allied Health team, and shares in the vision of delivering accessible, respectful, and responsive care. Bridget brings warmth, curiosity, and a playful sense of humour to her work, alongside a strong belief in the healing power of safe relationships, laughter, and authentic connection.
Outside of work, Bridget loves to travel (something she made the most of while living in the UK) and has a deep appreciation for the joyful and silly things in life—whether that’s learning to play the kazoo, enthusiastically embracing regular usage of a dance ribbon, or belting out songs on the karaoke microphone.
