Ryan Kennedy

Registered Psychologist

Ryan is a registered psychologist with clinical experience in adult community mental health, workplace, and family psychology across government and private roles. He believes in creating an open-minded, non-judgemental and respectful space to address both current problems and underlying causes and working collaboratively with clients to help them built insight and skills to achieve their goals and enrich their lives.
He believes that therapy does not need to be overly serious and brings a warm and friendly energy to sessions. Ryan works with clients with a wide range of challenges, including anxiety and mood disorders, (complex) trauma, ADHD, and personality difficulties, and has a particular interest in men’s mental health, relationship and life transitions, and existential psychology.
Ryan is committed to using an evidence-based interventions and matching the right therapeutic approach to the right person, with these including acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. He believes in providing a culturally safe and responsive practice, and welcomes clients who identify as LGBQTI, neurodiverse, and in non-traditional relationships (e.g., ethical non monogamy, polyamory).
Beyond his clinical work, Ryan maintains special interests in philosophy, literature, yoga, calisthenics, travel and cooking, and has a rotating cast of foster cats wandering through his home in Sydney. Prior to psychology, Ryan spent over 10 years in media and communications roles in government. He has spent far too many years at university and has accrediations including Bachelor of Arts (English and Philosophy), Master of Media Practice, Graduate Diploma in Psychology, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Master of Professional Psychology, and Master of Psychology (Clinical).
