Yeony Kim

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Yeony is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides trauma-informed, relational counselling for people experiencing a range of mental health and psychosocial challenges. Her practice is grounded in compassion, cultural humility, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
Yeony has particular experience supporting people living with complex trauma, anxiety and mood difficulties, psychosocial disability, addiction and recovery, and longstanding emotional distress. She works collaboratively with clients to create a space that feels safe, reflective, and supportive of meaningful and sustainable change.
Alongside her counselling work, Yeony has a longstanding professional interest in the relationship between mental and physical health, particularly the ways chronic stress, trauma, pain, and health conditions can shape emotional wellbeing and daily life. Originally trained and licensed as a pharmacist and herbalist in South Korea, she also has further study in natural medicine and longstanding interests in holistic and body-based approaches to health. This background informs her integrative understanding of chronic pain, weight-related concerns, and other long-term health conditions.
Known for her calm and grounded presence, Yeony brings curiosity, care, and thoughtful reflection to her work. She values ongoing learning that deepens her understanding of people, relationships, and the wider contexts that shape wellbeing — particularly for those living in regional and rural communities.
Outside of clinical practice, Yeony enjoys spending time outdoors and in nature, whether hiking, trail running, exploring cross-country tracks, or walking along the beach. She also has a longstanding love of creative, hands-on practices and enjoys crafting, crocheting, and making objects using natural materials.
Yeony practices traditional Korean dance and percussion and has previously performed at multicultural community events. While she enjoys growing trees from seed, she readily admits that keeping succulents alive remains a work in progress.
